How We Met
Amy and I both went to Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa, but didn't actually
meet while we were both in school. I was coaching football at Simpson at
the time. I was a 2nd year coach of the defensive line for the Storm and
Amy was a sophomore soccer player, among other things. One of the guys
that I went to high school with, played college football with, and was coaching
with at the time, was dating one of her friends that was also playing soccer at
the time. They had talked about introducing us, but it wasn't until
November 13th, 2004 that we actually ran into each other. After our last
football game of the year, we met at Signatures and had a good time together,
but it wasn't until she "accidently" left her phone in my car, that we actually
planned to go on a real date. With both of us being quiet and nervous when
we first meet people, it was quite the awkward moment. "Here's your phone,
wanna go out sometime." And the response was "sure, see ya". But
things changed fast and we quickly realized that we clicked from day 1.
